Tomorrow I leave for Kansas City

It was so sad when the “final” things started happening…the final trip to church, the final Book Barn day, the final Sci-Fi night….

I am up and I am going to take a shower and then pack like mad. According to my lists, I have everything I need and most of what I want. Also, I’m about half packed. The things that I am still lacking are in the teaching/gift area and can be remedied today without too much hassle…

I also have to find a bill, a CD of camera software, e-mail a few people, and download as many mp3’s as possible from my larger computer. Somehow I forgot I had to do that I’ll end up not bringing most of them…but a girl can try, right?

I hope I get done with time enough to say goodbye to Joplin…

Thursday, August 1st

• go over my room and try to think of more things to pack
• e-mail
• buy gifts
• pick out my clothing for the next week
• freak out….

Friday, August 2nd

• 2:00pm arrive at the Consulate General of Japan in Kansas City for a Pre-Departure meeting from 2:30-5:00
• 5:30pm-7:30 - attend a Japanese-style reception for participants and immediate family
• 8:00+ see a final movie with friends (Signs)
• TRY not to lose it

Saturday, August 3rd

• 6:30am - depart for Kansas City International Airport (MCI)
• 9:20am - depart from Kansas City
• 10:43am - arrive in Minneapolis
• 11:45am - depart for Narita

Sunday, August 4th

• 2:00pm+1 - arrive in Tokyo
• change clothes and relax
• wander around Tokyo to find dinner and make phone calls/find an internet cafe

Monday, August 5th

• Attend Orientation
• change clothes and relax

Wednesday, August 7th

• Depart for my host institution. Luckily for me, it will only be about a 15-25 minute journy via train.
• see my new home
